Servo-hydraulic compression testers apply controlled loads to measure how materials behave under compression, with hydraulic pressure generating the force and servo control regulating it throughout the test. They have a hydraulic actuator that presses the specimen (material being tested) between two platens as the load cell records the applied force, and additional measuring devices can track deformation when the test requires elastic modulus data. When equipped with the right fixtures, these compression testers can also be used for flexural and splitting tensile tests on materials such as concrete, cement, rock, ceramics, and other construction materials. The force and deformation readings show how much load the specimen can withstand and whether it meets the requirements of the applicable test standard.
